Happy Birthday Mom and Hello 2nd Trimester!

Wishing my very special Mama a VERY Happy Birthday!! We love you SOOO much and hope your day is beyond fantastic! Can't wait to celebrate with you in SC in a few weeks! Love you!

In other news, I am officially 2 days into the 2nd trimester! Yahoo!!! I guess soon I will start to look more pregnant- but right now I look the same, but feel all the symptoms of pregnancy...

I have been trying to cut back on taking my anti-nausea meds and it hasn't gone very well, so I am going to take them for one more week and try again. Hopefully by week 14 or 15 I will feel completely better! I hear I should be getting more energy soon too!

I've been having some weird cravings lately- yesterday all I wanted was cheese. Nothing else sounded good. For those of you who know us well, J hates cheese and since he won't eat it, I never buy it. Until yesterday when I couldn't get the idea out of my head! Luckily I have a husband who is so sweet and took me to Walmart to get some Colby Jack. I sliced off a few pieces and it tasted like heaven! I am sure in the next few months I will have some weirder cravings to share...

Flintstones vitamins...

Since my prenatal vitamins were making me incredibly sick- do you want to know what I am supposed to substitute for them??

Yup, that's right! Flintstones vitamins! If you have never had one of these or haven't since you were 7, let me tell you a little secret- they are disgusting! It takes all I have to just chew and swallow these chalky little things. I do have to admit that while the process of getting them done is horrible, as long as I take them with food I don't feel sick! So it's not all bad....but for the record- I will be looking for a better tasting vitamin for my kids when the time comes! Yabadabdoo!

Freezer Cooking

Today I made my first attempt at freezer cooking. I've been reading up on the idea from a lot of blogs over the past few months, but just didn't have the time or stamina to try it! Basically, I cooked large portions of a few favorite meals that could go in the freezer so when dinner comes I don't always have to worry about cooking something-I can just thaw and heat! Yay! Plus they are MUCH healthier and cheaper than buying pre-made frozen stuff. I started small this time- only really making 9 meals for the freezer, but I wanted to see how I liked it and if it really made life easier. Ideally, I think people only do this once a month. Another reason I didn't go too crazy- our freezer is SMALL. For whatever the reason our refrigerator is not the standard size so you can't store too much stuff in there.

So what did I make? Well, I made two batches of meatballs and sauce for spaghetti- all cooked and ready so all I have to do is heat and make pasta, at least 3 portions of Santa Fe Soup (one of J's favorites!), and 4 portions of pea soup (this is still cooking in the crock pot-it smells sooo good:). We got a Honeybaked Ham last week so I was also able to freeze one leftover portion of ham for a dinner in the next few weeks before using the meaty bone for pea soup! YUM!

So, that means that for the next few weeks I will have at least a few meals already taken care of! This is especially good for a tired, pregnant woman! After all the cooking today, I haven't gotten the stamina to clean the sink full of dishes yet, but I am sure I will soon....

There are a lot of other recipes I could tackle for freezer cooking and probably will in the future, but I had most of the ingredients for these so I thought I would start here:)

In pregnancy news:

No real horizontal growth yet. I can still button all of my pants, although I have started to notice a very small bump that I can't suck in:) Baby Bush will be the size of a peach by Saturday and I will be moving on to the 2nd trimester! Here's hoping I can stop taking anti-nausea meds and start feeling a little more energized soon!

introducing Baby Bush...

I know that I have been gone for quite a long time from the world of blogging! I promise that I have good reason! After our Hawaii trip, life got a little busy with J starting back school and I got a good dose of morning sickness. It pretty much put me on the couch or hovering over the toilet for a few weeks until recently my doc prescribed anti-nausea medicine. I cannot say how thankful to the Lord I am that I got this- I feel like I got part of my life back! Most days I feel much better and have the energy to get around and do some things. I definitely still have some more queasy days, but I feel good more than sick! Praise the Lord!

We are so excited about this little blessing that the Lord has given us! We would love to have you praying along with us for a safe and healthy pregnancy for me and Baby Bush, but even more importantly that Baby Bush would grow up to love and follow the Lord closely.

Here are the first few pictures of Baby Bush- measuring at 11 weeks and 2 days! Right on schedule for our due date on April 3rd! We can't wait to meet him/ her!!!

He/she is so cute already! Our next ultrasound is November 9th where we hope to find out if we are having a little boy or a little girl! I promise to share when we know:)
