Even laziness gets old...

The only good thing about being sick is that you are allowed to be very lazy. I have spent the last 3 days now in bed or on the couch- sleeping or watching old tv shows- and still i have a cough, occasional nausea and a fever. YUCK. However, today I am tired of being lazy and wishing that I could have the energy to be up and around, even if it meant washing the dishes (that's a BIG deal). I also really want a shower. Luckily, James has been taking excellent care of me, even when I vomit in the middle of the night! I am so thankful that God gave me such a wonderful and serving husband!

In better news, James sold the car!! We have been trying to get rid of our second car to save money on the insurance and because we really don't have a need for it. It's been a great little car, but since James can ride the bus for free and we always drive the corolla when we are together- we decided it was better for us to say goodbye to our black Chevy Prizm. I think we will both miss it (more James than me) but we think it's the wise decision for us right now. So the lucky guy who got it should be very happy!

Well, that's it for now...back to laying in bed.

Go back to sleep, it's a snow day!

Here are just a few pics of the snowstorm from last night. I took the pictures through our back window (sorry they are not expert quality), since of course I am still in my pajamas:) The snow really is beautiful and it makes me think of what a great God we serve that he created such beauty.

The alarm went off at 6:30 this morning and James immediately looked out the window to see if we had gotten the predicted snow. Then he turned on the computer and lo and behold UofL was cancelled! I already knew I was going to be off today since it was president's day and the father of the girls I nanny for was going to be home. Our immediate reaction- turn off the alarm, get back in bed, go back to sleep! Now at 11:00am we've had our coffee, spent time in the Word and are still in our pjs! Today (although I prefer summer much more) I am so THANKFUL to God for the snow!

Valentines Celebration 2010 (a few days early)

James and I had our Valentines Day date last night and it was awesome! We went to a local restaurant named Seviche and ordered anything we wanted (we NEVER do this!!). I had an amazing skirt steak with mashed potatoes and a cilantro sauce(oh my gosh- it was so good) and James had wild salmon over rice. We also tried seviche, which the waitress said was fish that was cooked only by the acidity of the marinade (but here is a real definition- an appetizer of small pieces of raw fish marinated in lime or lemon juice, often with onions, peppers, and spices) It was actually really good! Of course we had a coupon that helped with the bill;)

Then James took me to pick out flowers at Fresh Market (i got the most beautiful combo) and since gerbera daisies are my favorite and they were in our wedding- i chose pink ones and orange spray roses (see pics below)! Then we headed home and watched a little of our wedding video...oh and I gave James 2 bags of peanut butter M&Ms because he is pretty much addicted! It was definitely an awesome and much needed date after a busy few weeks of dental school! I have such a wonderful loving husband and I am thankful for another Vday together...looking forward to many, many more!

Yesterday was the first time that I have literally been vomited on by a child. You are probably surprised considering that I worked at Kindercare (where kids always seem to be sick), but poor little Ella puked all over my arm yesterday. Do you want to know what I was thinking as I held back my own gagging? I felt awful for her and that I couldn't do anything to help her feel better. And I think it was the first time that I realized that I love these two precious girls that I spend so much time with during the week. They have climbed into my heart and although the day can sometimes be trying and long, I love spending it with them:) BUT I am still glad that I have Thursdays off! haha.

I am having a relaxing day so far.....took James to Starbucks and school this morning, came home and did a general clutter sweep of the house, got ready, did errands with my neighbor and her adorable baby:), and now just relaxing for a few until I go hang out with James for lunch! Woo Hoo :) He is getting out a little early today and I am SO excited since I feel like i've barely seen him in the last few weeks with all his crazy studying! I think I might also want a nap this afternoon before community group. Today is a great day!

lesson learned- you can burn something in a crockpot

Yes, that's right. Tonight our crock pot burned the delicious (well, it would have been) chicken I had cooking in it all day. I added liquid and spices and still pieces of the chicken were fairly tough and chewy....yuck. Not to mention that there was burnt crusted juice around the edges of the pot...double yuck and bummer. I am pretty sure our crock pot gets hotter than it should on low. It always seems to cook too fast and since no one is home during the day to check on it, it really defeats the simplicity of the crock pot meal. Next investment= new crock pot:) We did, however, salvage some of the meat (which wasn't chewy and hard) and then I made J chili spaghetti and I ate the leftover tex mex chicken from yesterday. So dinner wasn't exactly what I planned, but we were both satisfied. I think I will have to take my mom's advice and take the crock pot to the house that I nanny at so I can watch it next time!

In other news, James has a big anatomy test on Wed. so if you get the chance, pray for him. While he studies tonight, I plan on getting my list of coupons and groceries ready for Thursday/ meals plan for next week, taking a bubble bath/reading (one of my most favorite things), washing dishes (least favorite thing to do EVER), making the coffee for tomorrow and relaxing.
Also, we are supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow tonight- barf. I spent some time today outside in the snow that is still on the ground from this last weekend with the little girls I watch. We made some snowballs and played, but mostly they just wanted to be pulled all around their yard on a sled "fast." And trust me, they let you know if you are not meeting their speed quota:) It was a fun day, but I sure am tired...pretty sure that I deserve that bubble bath! At any rate, I am looking forward to summer and not having to scrape off my car every morning, wear boots, or pay for the gas to heat our apt! We are practically freezing and paying what I consider a small fortune on heat- much more than last year! It probably doesn't help that we live in an old apt where you can feel the draft when you walk by the front and back doors....but still. Snow, please go away.

I will not take my love away...

I will not take my love away
When praises cease and seasons change
while the whole world turns the other way
I will not take my love away

I will not leave you all alone
When striving leads you far from home
And there's no yield for what you've sown
I will not leave you all alone

I will give you what you need
In plenty or in poverty
Forever, always, look to me
And I will give you what you need
I will not take my love away

Remembering a sweet song Jen and Joey sang at our wedding! Still love it:)

PS- Today i got 5 regular size boxes of crackers (4 wheat thins, 1 ritz) for $1...impressed? Haha, i love CVS.
It's been weeks again since i've posted...i guess that's the life of the working:) and sharing a computer with a spouse who studies with it a lot! Well, I am happy to inform you that I no longer have to share! James bought me my own macbook!!!!! I have the sweetest and most generous husband EVER! We are officially PC free (well, sort of...now we have to figure out what to do with the PCs we aren't using anymore) and happy!

A quick update: I only have a minute to write- we are having a sweet couple from our community group over for lunch and I have to finish making it:) Our house smells like delicious crock-pot tex mex chicken and we can't wait to eat it! James has had a TON of school work lately, so he has spent many nights and all day Sat. studying. Hopefully the hard couple of weeks will come to end on Wednesday when he has his head and neck anatomy test. I will be glad to be able to spend some more time with him again:) I have been busy nannying and starting to really enjoy it, although I still come home fairly tired! I have officially been working with the girls for a month- sometimes it seems like longer and sometimes it seems like I just started. It's kind of like practicing for being a mom:) I have also been couponing and have gotten some AWESOME deals! So far- we are making our goal of only spending $80 on groceries this month. Last week, I spent $16.14 and for this coming week $14.56 (although i still need to buy milk, which is $1.88 at Walmart)!! We are pretty excited and glad to be lessening our monthly budget a little...Less spending=less dental school loans= happy couple:)

alright-off to the food.
