What can you get for 16 cents?

We had our usual Sunday morning...coffee and coupon clipping! Can I tell you about the really great deal I got?? I went to Walgreens after clipping coupons today to get the things that I wanted for the week. Here's what I got (plus a dark chocolate Reese cup that J already devoured):

and do you want to know the out of pocket cost?? SIXTEEN CENTS! Yes, that's right- I got $34 worth of stuff for only 16 cents! AMAZING! I can't believe that I didn't know about this before. I had several coupons, 6 register rewards bucks from last week and a rebate for Olay Quench Lotion (it was FREE!)! WoW! If you want to know more about navigating Walgreens...click
here. I spent about $10 the first week to get started (about 3 weeks ago) and haven't spent more than a dollar since....each week I come home with bundles of stuff! YAY!

Anyway, we are just relaxing until Sojourn @5....so I guess I'll be going!

Feeling blue?

Finally after months of contemplation (not to mention getting up the motivation), our bedroom finally has been painted (much more productive than watching tv while J studies...although he did help a little in the end:)! I debated whether or not to do tan stripes for quite a long time, but when my mom gave me some great blue paint that she decided not to use, the decision was real simple...hah! Since I painted our nightstand light blue last year, it is not shown in the pics because now I am going to paint it ivory...which will match our new dresser from IKEA perfectly! I will post new pics with it when I am done (it will probably become my Thursday project). The blue is pretty bright, but I like how it adds a splash of color to our otherwise drab walls:)

us...blogging:)

What do you think?? The nightstand is usually under the lanterns...so it kind of feels like something is missing there.

Next step for the room... HEADBOARD! Not exactly sure how we are going to do that since we have zero budget for it, but I am thinking garage sale or maybe I will get all HGTV and make one! Haha, who knows!

I have been thinking about giving you guys a tour of our apt on here....maybe with plans for what I want to eventually do in each room. Perhaps?

Well, we are going to relax because after all that painting, I am exhausted! Can't believe I started this project around 11 am and the room is already put back together! YAY!

Ahh, Thursdays...

Well, it's official. I have fallen in love with a new day of the week. It's not that I have taken away my commitment to loving Sundays- it's just that I am adding another day to my favorites....Thursdays! On Thursdays, I have the day off (yay!) and so I get the chance to see friends, eat lunch with the hubby, catch up on housework (laundry, cleaning, groceries)- plus it's community group day. Can it get much better? Last Thursday I got so much accomplished that I was exhausted, BUT I got to relax all weekend because of it:) Wonderful!

Today's plan: time in the Word, clean bathroom, shower, clean up house a little (fix slip cover on couch-again--ugh, pick up clutter, make bed), put in laundry, coffee with Shannon and Charlotte:), lunch with James, groceries, back to finish cleaning the apt. and laundry, nap?, make dinner, community group and relax with hubs before bed! YAY!

In other news, I have been getting into the whole "couponing" thing. I was inspired 2 weeks ago to start doing some research when my mom was having a coupon class with some ladies from her small group. I spent the weekend researching, organizing and figuring out how it all works. I will admit that YES it takes a lot of work, but for us it is worth it. Since J spends some of his evenings studying, it gives me something productive (besides sitting in front of the hgtv) to work on that helps our budget too. In the last two weeks, I have been amazed at how full our cupboards and toiletry closets are and how little I have spent. We decided to make a goal for February to only spend $80 on groceries for the MONTH! Do you think we can do it? This might seem crazy since we eat 6 dinners a week at home and J packs all his lunches from home. We also both eat breakfast here! However, we think we can do it and still eat well- so we will let you know how it goes! I am pretty sure it will stretch my creativity! If you are looking to possibly start the coupon thing, check out this website that helped me here. It gives you awesome info in an organized way and really spells out what you need to know.

Well, I guess I better get started on that long to-do list.

A much needed update!

I've pretty much taken a holiday from the blog for what seems like forever! So much has happened in the last month...

The last post was off the cuff and deserves some explanation. Over Christmas, we watched The Sing Off- a show where a cappella groups compete! Some of them were pretty amazing (and some pretty awful), but by far the best was a Puerto Rican group that sang Down by Jay Sean. So, now we (more me than J) are hooked on the song:)

At any rate, we spent the majority of the Christmas and New Year holidays visiting family! We had such a wonderful time and are so blessed to both have AWESOME families! The break, of course, went too quickly.

God answered a huge prayer in the last month--he provided me with a new job!! It felt relieving to give Kindercare my two weeks notice and to move on to something that was definitely better for us and more enjoyable for me! So, now I am the nanny for two precious little girls, 2 and 5. Although, I come home exhausted from running around, playing dolls and doing crafts; I absolutely LOVE it. It also has much more consistent hours and pay! Praise the Lord!

J ended the semester with great marks and the next one is already in full swing! We are both amazed at how quickly the time has flown. The next 3 and 1/2 years are probably going to zoom by as well.

I have tons of pictures to share from the last month...i will post them at some point.
